Cyber-Physical E-Commerce Concept

In 2012 a new e-commerce business concept will be launched in Sweden. Explorio, a Swedish joint venture between retailers and e-commerce platform vendors, will open three shopping malls with 300 e-stores each in Malmö, Gothenburg and Stockholm. There they will offer e-tailers their own physical store to get the best of both worlds. The concepts combines the best of e-commerce and with the physical store's advantage to allow customers to touch and try the product. The designers of this concept hope to lower the online shopping barriers by offering physical contacts with products and personal contacts with e-retailers. E-tailers can rent a 20 square meters shop for about 7000 SEK / month.  16 m² for retail and the rest are public spaces. The rent includes heating, engineering and interior design. Staff can be shared and hired with other e-tailers.
